Don’t worry – everyone always has this question! I always help my clients with picking outfits because it makes such a big difference in how the photos end up turning out! Location and outfits are the two most important factors in getting great photos you’ll love!

Generally speaking, neutral and muted  colors work best for outdoor photo sessions that do not “steal the show”. We want your wardrobe to complement you and your family, but not be the main focus. I prefer to style moms first and work around those colors for the rest of the family. Flowy dresses, skirts or garments that have movement make for visual interested and flatter moms (and daughters) best.

Avoid very bright and neon colors, choosing more muted or neutral colors. Small patterns such as small flowers, stripes, and polka dots are good for photos, but definitely stay away from large distracting patterns or shirts with prints or logos on them (Small logos like Polo symbol are okay). 

The secret Tip I have to make this super simple and way less time consuming is to use a styling website. I give my clients exclusive access to a website called Style & Select that allows you to put in your family’s sizing info, allows you to choose the colors you want to work with, and presents outfits for each of you!

This site can be used as a mood-board to give you ideas, or you can actually purchase items you need straight from of the website (it will direct you to the online-store for where to purchase). Combining this with items you already have is what most of my families do and it always turns out beautifully!
